Met Gala inspiration

It's that time of the year again people, the Met gala and all it's fashion magic just happened. And we couldn't be more excited. Really, it's almost emberassing how much we look forward to seeing all the dramatic, extravagant looks. Of course we paid special attention to the statement foot wear, because let's face it. No outfit is complete without the right pair of shoes. So let us take you through our favourite looks of the Met gala 2018 and provide you with some additional shoe candy! We can all use a little Met drama in our looks, right?

The theme of this year's Met gala was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”. Just leave it up to the A-listers and their stylists to interpret this in the most fashionable, dramatic way possible. We saw a lot of dramatic catholic influences, from symbolic details and iconic patterns and crosses to upgraded Bishop's mitres and cloaks. To sum it up: we saw a lot of (literal) holy fashion grails last night.

Another theme that was well used at the Met gala 2018 was gold, silver and other shiny metallic materials. As what we're used to from the Met gala's, more really was more. So bring in the big shapes, bold materials, patterns and jewelry, a lot of jewelry.

Of course we also focused on the Met gala shoes. From elegant black dress sandals to glamorous metallic heels and statement rhinestone boots and court heels. We selected our favourite shoe-game moments of the Met gala 2018 and found a similar pair in our collection, so you can bring a little Met drama to your occasional wear as well. Here we go.

 Rihanna in Maison Margiela

Just leave it up to Rihanna to take the theme of this year's Met gala literally. As any other years, she took theme-dressing to the next level. Riri wore a embellished papal tiara, a dramatically embroidered mini dress with a matchin kimono style cape and of course a pair of statement glitter court heels.

Zoë Kravitz in Saint Laurent and Jennifer Lopez in Balmain

That there's nothing wrong with a pair of classic black heels was definitely proven at the biggest event of the year. A-listers, known for their strong fashion game at events like Jennifer Lopez and Zoë Kravitz both wore classic black dress sandals with a stiletto heel and thin straps. We're definitely apploading this fashion decision, because with such statement dresses you won't need to overdo it with some extravagant shoes. Just keep it classy. Good job, girls.

Cardi B in Moschino and Irini Shayk in Versace

Of course our favourite mom-to-be Cardi B came through dripping in pearls for her first Met gala appearance. The rapper/singer wore a pearl-embellished Moschino ensemble with matching gloves, a chocker and headpiece that were covered in beads and ornate jwels. Of course the dress contained a sexy touch, in the form of a thigh-high slit on the luxe frock and a dramatic satin overskirt belted at the waist.

Ever stunning Irina Shayk took it a bit more simple, but oh-so-gorgeous. The super model was dripping in Versace gold in a stunning gown featuring a plunging neckline, beaded bodice and a cascading pleating skirt. The studded choker matched her metallic ensemble perfectly.

Both the famouw rap star as the super model wore elegant gold dress sandals to top off their looks. Again showing that a pair of gold heels are always appropriate to wear to a classy event. Lucky for you we offer the cutest gold court heels and sandals, so go pick out your favourite here

Solange Knowles in Iris van Herpen

Always one step further, Solange Knowles, made everyone pause with her Met Gala outfit. Solange wore an Iris van Herpen black sculpted piece, with matching foot wear and a durag under a halo headpiace. The singer, known for her bold fashion choices, brought some heavenly black to the gala, with a hint of seductive transparancy.

We are anything but schoked that Solange stepped out in yet another bold fashion statement. Our sandals with a transparant heel are the perfect examples of a well executed fashion statement. Okay, maybe you won't be copying Solange's Met Gala look completely, but a pair of see-through heels couldn't hurt your wardrobe, right? Buy your favourites here, or here

SZA in Versace and Jamie Bochet in Saint Laurent

Stepping out for the biggest night in fashion, singer SZA looked like a fashionable angel while wearing a gold halo and blush-coloured tulle gown. The singer totally stunned in her romantic gown, surprisingly paired with a pair of statement glitter boots. In keeping with the theme "Heavenly Bodies", Solana wore a celstial headpiece and teardrops, which went together perfectly with her statement boots. Let's just say that this proves once again that you definitely need a pair of rhinestone boots in your closet, whether you're going to wear them with a romantic gown or tough street wear look. So get them here

Let's focus on the striking shoes Jamie Bochet wore for a minute. We totally love how the musician/model took her Met Gala shoe game to a suprisingly fashionable level. We can't deny the power of mules and slingbacks this season, so of course this shoe trend couldn't be missed at fashion's biggest event of the year. We found a similar pair of fancy high heel mules, to add a little drama to your looks. You can shop theme here
